Cone crushers were originally designed and developed by Symons around 1920 and therefore are often described as Symons cone crushers. As the mechanisms of crushing in these crushers are similar to gyratory crushers their designs are similar, but in this case the spindle is supported at the bottom of the gyrating cone instead of being suspended as in larger gyratory crushers.
Read MoreCone crushers are commonly used for secondary crushing (although impact crushers are sometimes used), which typically reduces material to about 2.5 to 10 centimeters (1 to 4 inches). The material (throughs) from the second level of the screen bypasses the secondary crusher because it is sufficiently small for the last crushing step.

Read MoreThe life of the mine is a key element in the design of any crushing plant. Short-term mine lives (three to eight years) require a very careful approach to design, layout and construction. Since the crushing plant’s structure and enclosure can represent the largest single cost element in a primary crushing plant, it is imperative to optimize these structural and construction costs to suit the life of the operation.
Read MoreMay 09, 2016 In the handling of wet, sticky ores such as encountered in tropical areas having distinct dry and rainy seasons, the crushing plant is a section of the mill which must be planned very carefully. Unless this is done, crushing becomes a constant source of trouble resulting in lost production and high milling cost. In some areas rainfall is high for prolonged periods.
